Business People: Xcel Energy sending power-restoration crews to Hurricane Laura areas

Xcel Energy, Minneapolis, announced it is sending employee and contracting crews to areas hit hard by Hurricane Laura to help restore power to the 670,000 customers currently without electricity following the devastating storm; about 250 Xcel employees and contractors from Colorado, Minnesota, New Mexico, Texas and Wisconsin left for Louisiana this week; crews are initially assigned to Entergy Louisiana and Southwestern Electric Power Co.

RBC Wealth Management – U.S., Minneapolis, has named Lauri Droster St. Paul Complex Director, effective Aug. 1. Droster will oversee eight branches, 88 advisers and 75 support staff. … Fargo, N.D.-based accounting firm Eide Bailly announced that Ben Ellingson, of firm’s Mankato office, was elected vice chair of the board and will serve for one year.

FOOD SCIENCE

Calyxt, a Roseville-based developer of plant-based food technology, announced the appointment of board member Yves Ribeill as chairman, replacing André Choulika, who is retiring from the role. Calyxt also appointed parent company Cellectis‘ board member Laurent Arthaud as director.

Health Dimensions Group, a Minnetonka-based provider of post-acute, long-term care and senior living consulting and management services, announced that Diane Palu-McArthur has been named director of reimbursement.

The University of Minnesota Duluth announced that its production of “An Enemy of the People” was awarded Distinguished Production of a Play and theater professor Tom Isbell Distinguished Director of a Play by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.

MANUFACTURING

Minnesota Wire, a St. Paul-based custom wire and cable manufacturer, has appointed three members to its board of directors: retired U.S. four-star General Joseph Votel, Michael Wright and Maureen Schriner. Votel most recently served as the Commanding General of the U.S. Central Command and the U.S. Special Operations Command; Wright is a senior fellow at the University of Minnesota, and chairman of the University’s Technological Leadership Institute Advisory Board. Schriner is a former instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a former director of marketing and communications for the Minnesota High Tech Association. She currently works on 2020 Census communications for the U.S. Census Bureau.
