Minnesota reported no new COVID-19 deaths Tuesday, one of a handful of days this year in which no one succumbed to the coronavirus.
It was also the fourth day in a row the state recorded fewer than 100 new cases. There are also fewer than 100 patients hospitalized including 23 in critical condition.
The ongoing improvements in the state of the pandemic in Minnesota come as nearly 5.7 million doses of vaccine have been administered. More than 3 million residents have gotten at least one dose — nearly 67 percent of the population 16 and older.
State health officials say nearly all new cases, hospitalizations and deaths are among residents who are not fully vaccinated.
COVID-19 has killed 7,587 Minnesotans since the pandemic began and 605,297 have tested positive for the coronavirus. Of those, 596,930 have recovered enough they no longer need to be isolated.
