Nelson's Auto Repair is my go-to auto shop in the Twin Cities. The level of professionalism is unmatched compared to previous shops I've been to over the years. The General Manager, Derrick was incredibly professional and returned my call within minutes of me calling when they opened at 7 am. Derrick was able to get me into the shop that same day to work on my splash shield. Derrick called to let me know that they discovered that my rear brakes were in need of replacing and he was 100% upfront and honest about everything. He explained what had happened and gave his best recommendation without any pressure to go ahead with the repair. I agreed and his team were able to fix my splash shield and rear brakes within a few hours. Speedy service and a very professional team and auto shop. I highly recommend them. The whole team deserves raises for their customer service, attention to details and professionalism. I've always liked this shop and have recommended it even during the time Doug was the General Manager. Clearly, the shop cares about its customers and bringing in Derrick was an excellent decision. Kudos to everyone. Thank you.
Amazing experience! Super professional and friendly. Nelson's was able to give me an unbeatable price. It cost me HALF what the other places were going to charge me. I will look no further than Nelson's in the future. Thanks guys!
I’ve visited Nelson’s several times for a variety of problems. They are always very friendly, quick and forthcoming. When possible, they show me the problem which gives me confidence in their honesty. I have nothing but good things to say about them!
I have been going to the shop for years when doug ran it every time I brought my car there and I left everything was working great. Last time I brought my car they called and told me to pick it up and said everything was perfect now unless perfect means oh your power steering is out and I'm not going to tell you about that sure. Then I get excuse after excuse about how you know they just went through the first step and yada yada yada and I took it back and they fixed the power steering. Well today I had to jump my car not their fault but I discovered that they broke my hood popping button and yes I know they broke it because I popped the hood the day before I had to bring it to the shop to fill it with windshield washer fluid and it was fine then. I don't know what's up with this new management but I'm not exactly happy about my last trip there.
I took my car in with some brakes that I purchased late last year. I had tested my dealership on the quality of my brakes, they said they were “good” but they were worn down to the metal. So I decided to go to Nelson’s instead. I took my own parts (which I think they don’t normally allow, but I had already purchased) and they completed a perfect brake install in less than an hour - during the U of Minnesota playoff football game - nonetheless. They gave me a great price on the labor that was almost 50% of the dealership “discounted” labor. I loved the experience, it’s a short walk from where I live and I will definitely be back for the spark plug replacement I need done. I don’t have a garage to do my own work right now, this feels like my garage. Finally, they seem more knowledgeable than the “20 year technicians with unmatched knowledge” the dealership kept bragging about.
