My first time for Standard servicing my furnace. I got a recommendation from my neighbor. I signed for a maintenance plan. I think the young man’s name was Jordan, but not 100% sure. He was in a clean uniform and used booties while in my house. As far as I can tell, he did an excellent job. Seemed to spend an ample amount of time making sure all items were checked and completed. I was impressed. He was very professional and knowledgeable.
I called Standard Heating early Monday morning after our ancient gravity furnace went out the day prior. A technician arrived within two hours and had the furnace running again in 30 minutes. I was so thrilled that they even had the needed parts! Top notch service! I will definitely call them again in the future.
In December 2020, my furnace wasn't keeping up with the house's heating needs. Called Standard Heating and set up an appointment for later in the week and the technician arrived before the time-frame window (so nice when they're early!) and had the issue diagnosed and fixed in under 45 minutes. Luckily it wasn't too serious a problem. He let us know that we'll need annual maintenance for our flame sensor and told us he'd set up a reminder call from Standard so they come out and do the maintenance before issues come up again. His willingness to help us out with future needs was unexpected and top-notch customer service.
The good: - Professional, knowledgeable, on time, calls ahead, kind, and probably can do really high quality work The bad: - They refused to provide a breakdown of parts and labor to the home warranty company. I had to choose another company simply for this reason. Not being able to provide a breakdown is (often in my opinion) obfuscation against the customer. I understand that flat rate can be good if agreed upon, and for larger projects it makes more sense, but for one motor replacement? - They were going to replace the whole motor damper unit and install for $590. Turns out it's just the little motor (common part) inside that needs replacement. That part is about $100 or so, so I can see why they were trying to make things opaque. I don't doubt they could rock most repairs. They were really nice and cared about Covid precautions. I appreciate that. However, the immovable flat rate coupled with an inflated price is the reason I deducted 2 stars for my review. edit: Initial review was for 2 stars, upped to 3 and changed my sentiment around flat rate being bad in all cases to company not being able to provide an alternative for this instance where materials and time was clearer.
Had someone come in to do a regular furnace tuneup and help me figure out why my son's room got almost no heat. He wound up teaching me about some features on my Ecobee I didn't know about, as well as about how airflow works in our home, and most importantly, how to adjust airflow from the furnace to get better outcomes. I would wholeheartedly recommend using SH&AC.
