BEMIDJI, Minn. — A 21-year-old Duluth man was arrested Saturday in connection with a fatal shooting last week in northern Minnesota’s Beltrami County.
Around 9:45 p.m. last Tuesday, local law enforcement received a report of a man being fatally shot outside a residence in Ten Lake Township, about 10 miles east of Bemidji.
The victim has not been identified by authorities.
According to the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office, Montana Oshki-Ayaabe Cutbank, originally from the Cass Lake area but reported as living in Duluth, was arrested Saturday in Duluth.
Cutbank was booked into the Beltrami County Jail on suspicion of second-degree murder; felony aggravated robbery; illegally possessing a weapon as a convicted felon; and an additional warrant for second-degree aggravated robbery. Arraignment is expected Tuesday in Beltrami County District Court.
Cutbank was convicted of a felony in February 2018 for the aggravated robbery of a Dollar General store in Deer River. Due to the conviction, he was ineligible to possess a firearm.
According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Cutbank was under intensive supervised release as of Sept. 28.
