A woman was fatally shot in St. Paul early Thursday, the second homicide in two days in the city.
Police responded to a report of a shooing in the Payne-Phalen area shortly after 3:30 a.m. They found a woman in the area of Arcade Street and Cook Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds and CPR was started on her, according to initial emergency radio dispatches.
Officers were told a male suspect had run away. Police set up a perimeter and were searching for him.
Police said they will be releasing additional information later Thursday morning.
Two other people were wounded in shootings early Thursday in St. Paul, one critically.
Police responded at 12:46 a.m. to Sherburne Avenue and Rice Street on a report of a woman shot. They found her in a vehicle with significant injuries, said Steve Linders, a St. Paul police spokesman. Paramedics took her to Regions Hospital, where she was in critical condition as of Thursday morning.
At 12:55 a.m., officers went to Victoria Street and Charles Avenue on another report of a reporting. A man with non-life threatening injuries was transported to the hospital, according to Linders.
Thursday morning’s homicide was the 23rd of the year in St. Paul. The 22nd happened on Tuesday, at about 6 p.m., when someone shot a 17-year-old male in a pickup truck in the Prosperity Heights neighborhood. Police arrested a 14-year-old male.
