Police are investigating a fatal shooting on St. Paul’s Grand Avenue early Sunday.
It happened in the area of Billy’s on Grand, near Victoria Avenue, about 3:25 a.m. The bar closes at 1 a.m., according to its Facebook page.
One person was shot in the chest and the other in the leg, according to preliminary emergency radio dispatches. An officer began CPR when he responded to the call.
Police said they will be releasing additional information on Sunday morning. It wasn’t immediately known whether anyone was under arrest.
In the moments after the shooting, a dispatcher reported there were four suspects who had the same last name and it appeared “these suspects are known to the bar,” according to a dispatch.
The homicide was the 25th of the year in St. Paul, compared with 21 at this time last year.
Shootings are up about 38 percent in the city, also compared with the same period in 2019, according to police statistics. There have been at least 155 people shot, 19 of them fatally.
Police have responded to Billy’s on Grand more than 40 times since January, according to department records. In August, there were reports ranging from reckless discharge of a firearm to assault to disorderly conduct.
