While dine-in service has started up again, some of us want to wait until we are vaccinated or for the weather to get nicer for outdoor dining.
Still, many of us still want to support our local restaurant scene. With that being said, we can’t wait to tell you about some great takeout we’ve had recently.
This week, ahead of the Super Bowl, we turn our attention toward tailgating takeout. Let us tell you about a wonderful package we recently discovered: the tailgating box at Red Cow.
Before we do, have you had some great takeout lately? We want to hear about it. Send us a note (we love photos, too!) at email@example.com.
When it comes to takeout, tailgating and watching the game, chicken wings go hand in hand. In recent issues of EAT, we’ve told you about some of our favorite places to get wings or grab some tailgating friendly dishes.
Since then, we’ve discovered the Red Cow Game Day Wing Pack ($55). The package, available for takeout only, is a trio of wing varieties, a dozen of each, or 36 wings total along with sauces to dunk them in.
The wings, which you can order bone-in or boneless, were a nice casual spread with plenty of variety. The dry rub ones were the most neutrally spiced yet flavorful and, since it didn’t have sauce, was more crispy than the rest of the bunch. The Japanese sticky rub with an Asian glaze gave some sweetness to the order. Then there was the Buffalo, the quintessential game day wing, that brought some great heat. Sauces such as blue cheese and ranch helped cool some of it down while a Dragon sauce amped up the spice level.

It’s great that the order of wings are easily shareable and, since it comes in a box that doubles as a serving vessel, are easy to serve and a breeze to clean up.
It’s also worth noting that you can order the wings from the takeout menu anytime the restaurant is open. So if not for the Super Bowl Sunday, then perhaps for that Minnesota Wild game coming up. Or anytime your crew is having a craving for wings for that matter.
