The Twin Cities Jazz Festival will offer a jazz adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” in a free online event at 7 p.m. Dec. 10.
“A Copasetic Christmas Carol” tells Dickens’ story using a suite of jazz compositions with “hep cat” lyrics and narration. The suite – first performed at the Dakota in Minneapolis in 2003 – was a huge success with additional performances in venues all over the region for a number of years. It features original music by Doug Haining, lyrics by Charmin Michelle and Haining and narration written by Maryann Sullivan. The Twin Cities Seven provide the music.
The show will be recorded at the Dakota with only the performers and essential technical staff on premises. This production runs slightly over an hour. For more details, see twincitiesjazzfestival.com.
